Every Wednesday, volunteers will join to create and deliver a small vase of beautiful flowers to the hospice patients' bedsides and show these patients, many of whom have no family nearby, that they are loved and thought of as they leave this world.Julene Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00537288064008930829noreply@blogger.comBlogger20125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6347505958671919134.post-63389101383499644862009-02-08T09:53:00.002-07:002009-02-08T09:55:52.005-07:00Join us!We are always looking for volunteers to help deliver beautiful bouquets of love each Wednesday.
If you would like to join us or know someone who might like to be a part of Hearts In Bloom, give us a call. 480.556.6266.Lynn O'Rourke Hayeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00341512145948309042noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6347505958671919134.post-5417616434607401032009-02-04T20:40:00.003-07:002009-02-04T20:42:09.116-07:00Millie Loved Our FlowersTonight was a special delivery for several people. The committtee chose to donate the flowers from the event to HIB. Beautiful bouquets of white roses, hydrangeas and lilies were delivered to all three facilities this afternoon. The response was overwhelming! A special thanks to Theresa Keeley and Jim Keeley for loading the large vases into their cars and making deliveries to two of our facilities. Mayo also received the beautiful and sweet smelling flowers! Thank you BCP Mother's Guild for the contribution!! Thanks to the generosity of supporters, patients within Hospice of the Valley Hospice homes and the women and children seeking shelter from abuse within the Sojourner Center, will receive the beautiful gift of fresh flowers and a message of caring on Valentine’s Day.

Volunteers wishing to donate may call or email the Hearts In Bloom designated florist, Your Event Florist, to contribute $25, $50, $100 or more. This will insure that blooms will be delivered to terminal patients and those seeking shelter from harm on a day that signifies love and caring. To make a contribution call 480.203.2740 or email your request to Kevin@youreventflorist.com.

Our volunteers hope to deliver a minimum of 350 bouquets on Valentine’s Day and we hope you will join us!Julene Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00537288064008930829noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6347505958671919134.post-60930274812747443702007-02-05T10:21:00.000-07:002007-02-19T16:15:49.355-07:00How You Can Help:Our volunteers start at the flower studio where they put together the bouquets for each Hospice patient. Once the flowers are done, they deliver the vases to each room of the home and decorate the common areas with any extra bouquets.

We deliver every Wednesday to the Hospice of the Valley homes in Scottsdale, AZ. Founders Lynn O’Rourke Hayes and Colleen Horan believe that delivering a small vase of beautiful fresh flowers to the Hospice patients' bedsides will show these patients, many of whom have no family nearby, that they are loved and thought of as they leave this world. Since every floral arrangement is created out of love and compassion, Hearts in Bloom embodies the Hospice philosophy and vision that people should die with dignity. Deliveries are made by Hearts In Bloom volunteers each Wednesday to the patients within Scottsdale Hospice homes. Four times a year the Hearts In Bloom will provide the gift of fresh flowers to an additional group or organization that might benefit from this tribute.

O’Rourke Hayes and Horan first became friends while attending high school in Kettering, Ohio. Their mothers, Ann O’Rourke and Eileen Horan, both succumbed to cancer in their 50s. Both were cared for by Hospice volunteers.

Hospice of the Valley, one of the largest and oldest not-for-profit hospices in the country, founded in 1977. It serves nearly 10,000 patients a year, ranging in age from newborns to seniors over 100, providing comfort and dignity as life nears its end. More than 90 percent of Hospice of the Valley’s patients are cared for in their own homes, with the remainder served in 12 inpatient hospice homes Valley wide.

Working hand in hand with Hospice of the Valley, Hearts In Bloom has been able to bring smiles to the hearts of both patients and their families, and hopes to continue the deed with your help!

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, post a comment below or for more information contact Lynn O’Rourke Hayes at 480.556.6266 or via email at lohayes@familytravel.com.

HeartsInBloom.org is in development.Julene Nicolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00537288064008930829noreply@blogger.com0
